On 17-18 July, Biblijski institut in Zagreb will host American Johannine scholar Stan Harstine for three events, which include:
- Two public lectures on the Importance of John 1:1-18 (the Prologue) to the Gospel of John. These lectures will be held at 19.00 on the 17th and 18th, in the auditorium at Kristova Crkva, Kušlanova 21, Zagreb.
- A scholarly tribina on the Spirit of God and New Birth in the Gospel of John . This will be held 11.00 to 13.00 on the 18th in the auditorium at Kristova Crkva, Kušlanova 21, Zagreb.
Several papers will be presented at the tribina:
- Professor Harstine, “Rethinking the Johannine Pentecost.” (“Johannine Pentecost” refers to a passage from John 20, where Jesus breathes on his disciples and tells them to receive the Holy Spirit.)
- Professor Danijel Berković (Biblijski institut Zagreb) will present a paper reflecting on the Holy Spirit in Genesis 1.2: Merahefet (Genesis 1:2): The Dynamics of the Spirit in the Old Testament, tying the Spirit’s activity in creation to new creation and new birth (John 1.13, 3.5).

Professor Harstine teaches at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. During his doctoral work at Baylor University, he studied with noted Baptist scholars William Bellinger, Alan Culpepper, Charles H. Talbert, and Mikeal Parsons.
