The Library of Biblijski institut was founded in 2001. Today it operates at two locations in Zagreb’s downtown area. In spite of its brief history, the Library has experienced dynamic growth in the last 10 years, and today manages more than 20,000 books and journals. Although it is the youngest and smallest of Zagreb’s theological libraries, it still occupies an important place in the capital city. Its holdings in certain areas, especially in Biblical studies and Protestant theology, are stronger than other libraries in the city.
The lending library is located at Amruševa street 11 and holds app. 11,000 books. The Reading room, located at Gajeva street 9a, is home to all of the reference materials and most recent issues of journals. Here one can also find a special collection of Bibles in many languages, which at the moment numbers about 500 volumes.
The Library of Biblijski institut is the only library in Croatia, and in the wider region, that provides to its member access to the leading index of theological journals – ATLA. The index gives full access to journal articles, book reviews, and collections of essays from 1,677 journals from all over the world.
At the Reading room, library members are also provided for use the Logos Bible study software. It is the most advanced multi-platform Bible study software available. This software provides access to almost 10,000 titles, including commentaries, dictionaries, and original language texts. It is a great tool for students and teachers because it instantly delivers digital libraries of books and interactive study tools with accuracy.
