The year 2025 was marked by numerous activities \u2013 from a series of Bible lectures and workshops, conferences, and the publication of interesting books to cooperation with churches across Croatia and the region. An overview of the year is available on the YouTube channel.<\/p>\n
Zagreb<\/strong> Biblical Languages.<\/strong> In June, at the Center for Biblical Research (CBR), a department of the Biblical Institute, one cycle of courses in biblical Hebrew and New Testament Greek was completed with the awarding of certificates. A new cycle began in the autumn. The courses were led by Nino Brozin\u010devi\u0107 and Monika Baji\u0107.<\/p>\n Workshops.<\/strong> At the Center for Biblical Research, Danijel Berkovi\u0107 held a series of four workshops on the biblical book of Ruth (April\u2013May).<\/p>\n Lecture Series on Interpreting the Bible.<\/strong> Ervin Budiseli\u0107 held three lectures in Zagreb: \u201cWhy Do Christians Interpret the Bible Differently?\u201d (on different approaches to the Bible in Christian traditions, January\u2013February); \u201cReading the Bible as One Connected Story\u201d (on the interconnection of biblical texts, September); and \u201cReading the Bible as a Literary Work\u201d (on the different literary genres used by the authors of the Bible, December).<\/p>\n Lectures on Various Topics.<\/strong> Lectures were also held on various topics: Contemporary Ethical Issues (Danijel \u010casni, September), Faith and Science (Goran Punda, November).<\/p>\n Sarajevo \u2013 Advanced Bible Knowledge Program (ABK)<\/strong> Gare\u0161nica \u2013 Advanced Bible Knowledge Program (ABK)<\/strong> Istria \u2013 Advanced Bible Knowledge Program (ABK)<\/strong> Osijek \u2013 Evangelical Theological College<\/strong> Online Lectures:<\/strong> The lectures were well received, and their contribution to biblical literacy in Croatia is reflected in the feedback received.<\/p>\n Research Projects<\/strong> Scientific Meetings and Conferences<\/strong> Two conferences on musical creativity were held. On April 5, a conference titled \u201cMusical Creativity in Reformation Heritage Churches in Croatia 1990\u20132020\u201d was organized at BC Dubrava in cooperation with the Institute for Church Music and Worship at the Evangelical Theological College in Osijek. The conference provided an overview of church creativity in that period, along with discussions on theology and song translations. In November, the conference \u201cHeart of Worship\u201d was held in Osijek in cooperation with the Evangelical Theological College. It was preceded by a music competition \u201cHear a New Song,\u201d aimed at selecting 15 original Croatian songs to be performed in local churches during 2026. The selected songs were presented at a concert at EPC Radosne vijesti, Osijek.<\/p>\n European Congress on Evangelism.<\/strong> Ervin Budiseli\u0107 participated in May at the European Congress on Evangelism in Berlin. The conference focused on uncompromised preaching of the gospel and networking with pastors from the region.<\/p>\n Havurah Initiative.<\/strong> The fellowship of evangelical Christians in Croatia, focused on studying the biblical-Jewish roots of Christianity, was very active. In addition to regular meetings, a visit by Avi Snyder, European ambassador of Jews for Jesus, was organized in May. He delivered a lecture titled: \u201cWhy Did God Choose Israel and What Is Its Role in Salvation History?\u201d (May, Zagreb and Split, EPC Radosna vijest). A recording is available on YouTube. The book Restoring the Jewishness of the Gospel<\/em> was also presented.<\/p>\n Srcokret FEST, \u0160ibenik.<\/strong> At the end of June, a youth festival gathered 1,400 participants from Southeast Europe. Over six days, numerous workshops, musical and sports events, evening services with eleven speakers, and a large street evangelism event were held. Our lecturers led daily workshops: \u201cThe Bible \u2013 a Thick and Boring Book?\u201d (Budiseli\u0107), \u201cLectio Divina\u201d (Baji\u0107), and \u201cBible Translations\u201d (Medved).<\/p>\n Seminar.<\/strong> In cooperation with the association Ne\u0161to vi\u0161e, a seminar \u201cTeenagers and the Challenges of the Modern Age\u201d was held in October, aimed at better understanding the world in which teenagers grow up. The seminar was intended for parents and those working with youth in churches.<\/p>\n New Publications.<\/strong> Five new books were published: Psalms 42\u2013106<\/em> (Berkovi\u0107, March; presented at ETC Osijek in October); Restoring the Jewishness of the Gospel<\/em> (Stern, May); within the Croatian Psalter project, \u0160kari\u0107\u2019s translation of the Psalms (March). This translation, together with Grubi\u0161i\u0107\u2019s, was presented in May at the Biblical Institute Reading Room. In cooperation with the Faculty of Theology Matija Vla\u010di\u0107 Ilirik and the Evangelical Theological College, Introduction to Pentecostalism<\/em> (Anderson) was published. In November, also in cooperation with ETC, The Lost World of Genesis One<\/em> (Walton) was published; book presentations were held in Osijek (October) and Zagreb (December).<\/p>\n Book Presentations (2024 titles).<\/strong> Presentations were also held for books published in the previous year: Renovation of the Heart<\/em> (Dallas Willard, March) and Foundations of Discipleship<\/em> (April).<\/p>\n Published Dissertation.<\/strong> In May, Langham Publishing released Danijel Berkovi\u0107\u2019s dissertation as a book titled Personal and Private Religious Experience in the Biblical Psalms<\/em>.<\/p>\n Donations.<\/strong> Donations were collected to fund the printing of Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus<\/em> (Tverberg), in cooperation with the Havurah initiative and the Biblical Institute.<\/p>\n Kairos in DOAJ.<\/strong> The journal Kairos<\/em> published two issues in Croatian and English, both indexed in DOAJ.<\/p>\n Library Relocation.<\/strong> Due to renovation work, the library was moved to Ku\u0161lanova 21.<\/p>\n CBR<\/strong> DCP<\/strong> Visits.<\/strong> Guests included Avi Snyder, John York, Erik Tryggestad, and groups from Southside Church of Christ and Cornerstone Church (Dallas, USA).<\/p>\n Institutional Cooperation.<\/strong> Continued cooperation with the Evangelical Theological College through teaching, co-publishing, and organizing events.<\/p>\n Church Cooperation.<\/strong> Support provided to churches in Zagreb, Gare\u0161nica, Slavonski Brod, Rijeka, Pore\u010d, Rovinj, Sarajevo, and others.<\/p>\n Video Content.<\/strong> Stanko Jambrek wrote a script for a 12-episode series The Unstoppable Word<\/em>, about the printing and distribution of the Bible. Mini Bible School.<\/strong> A mini Bible school was held from January to May at the Christian association \u201cDunamis\u201d in Dubrava (Zagreb). Ervin Budiseli\u0107 covered the following topics: \u201cThe Bible as a Unified Story,\u201d \u201cCreation,\u201d \u201cThree Rebellions,\u201d \u201cCalling,\u201d \u201cThe Kingdom of God,\u201d \u201cThe Gospel and Discipleship,\u201d and \u201cThe Church.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the Evangelical Church in Sarajevo, Monika Baji\u0107 delivered lectures in Archaeology and the Bible (March) and Overview of the Old Testament (May), while Danijel \u010casni lectured on Church History (May) and Pastoral Theology (November\u2013December).<\/p>\n
The ABK program was launched in Gare\u0161nica in cooperation with EPC Gare\u0161nica and EPC Daruvar. Several lectures were held during the year: How the Bible Was Formed (Goran Medved, March), Introduction to the Pentateuch (Monika Baji\u0107, April), Change of Mind, Change of Heart (Perry Stepp, May, online), How Not to Get Lost in the Bible (June and September), Who Are We Evangelical Christians (Goran Medved, October).<\/p>\n
In cooperation with several evangelical churches in Istria, the ABK program began in the autumn at EPC Pore\u010d. Lectures were held in two subjects: The Formation and Translations of the Bible (Goran Medved, October\u2013November) and Key Biblical Themes (Ervin Budiseli\u0107, December).<\/p>\n

The conference \u201cNarratives of Suffering in the Biblical Psalter\u201d was held on January 25 at the Center for Biblical Research. In addition to our lecturers, presentations were given by Prof. Dr. Kre\u0161imir \u0160imi\u0107, Jasminka Doma\u0161, Dalibor Vrgo\u010d, Kotel Dadon, and Ratko Medan, M.Sc. Topics included suffering in specific psalms (39, 22, 42\u201343, 51), in the Book of Lamentations, comparisons with the Qur\u2019an, in rabbinic literature and the Torah, as well as reflections on different renderings of the concept of \u201csuffering\u201d in contemporary Croatian translations of the Psalter.<\/p>\n
