The New Issue of Kairos Is Out!

We’re excited to present the latest issue of Kairos: Evangelical Journal of Theology, featuring eight thought-provoking articles on the theme of discipleship. This issue is part of the research project The Concept of Discipleship Among Evangelical Churches in Croatia, conducted by the Biblical Institute in Zagreb.
Kotel Dadon explores the roots of discipleship in Judaism, focusing on the development of the public Jewish education system. Greg Ogden examines what it truly means to be a disciple of Jesus—and whether there’s a meaningful distinction between being a Christian and a disciple. Daniel G. Oprean offers a fresh perspective by outlining three portraits of failed discipleship in the Gospel of Matthew. Kenneth L. Cukrowski reflects on Luke 6:40, asking how disciples are shaped through following Jesus.
The Pastoral Epistles (Titus and 1 & 2 Timothy) also speak into the topic of discipleship, explored in Perry L. Stepp’s article Building (Not Burning) Bridges for the Gospel. Corneliu C. Simuț highlights how J. I. Packer, one of the most influential evangelical theologians of the 20th and 21st centuries, shaped his theology of discipleship through the New Testament.
In Headwinds Against Christian Higher Education, Dennis Allen addresses the challenges facing Christian academic institutions and how these obstacles threaten their sustainability.
Finally, David Kovačević considers a unique question: Why did Jesus choose to ride a donkey into Jerusalem—and what does this reveal about His relationship with creation?
Kairos is published in both Croatian and English and is now indexed in the Scopus database.
