- On February 12, the Center for Biblical Research held a presentation of the third volume of the Psalter, translated by Fra Luka Bračanin into the Chakavian dialect in 1598. This is the third translation of the Psalms in The Croatian Psalter library, which collects historical translations of the biblical Psalms in Croatian. On January 14, Danijel Berković, PhD, was a guest on the Croatian Radio show Religious Forum, presenting this translation of the Psalms.
- In March, we began a series of lectures on the New Testament with a lecture titled The World of Jesus of Nazareth: Selected Topics, led by Judita Paljević Kraljik.
- In April, we continued with lectures on the topic of Discipleship the Way Jesus Did It by Ervin Budiselić, PhD.
- From April to June, we held an English conversation course – Let’s Start Talking (LST) – led by volunteers who are native English speakers specially trained to help participants improve their speaking skills.
- In April, our lecturers Ervin Budiselić, PhD, and Danijel Časni, Mag. Theol., participated in the international scientific symposium Jewish-Christian Sources and Dimensions of Dialogue, held on April 20 and 21 in Maribor, organized by the Faculty of Theology of the University of Ljubljana and the Center for Jewish Cultural Heritage of the Synagogue in Maribor. Ervin Budiselić presented on the topic “The Importance of the Jewishness of Jesus for Interpreting the Gospels God’s Own Covenant as the Foundation of Judaism and Christianity from the Perspective of Joseph Ratzinger.”
- In May, we repeated the lectures The World of Jesus of Nazareth: Selected Topics, led by Judita Paljević Kraljik, in an online format using the Google Classroom platform. In May, we published the third volume of New Testament commentaries, titled The Word that Transforms, and the first issue of the 15th volume of the evangelical theological journal Kairos.
- In June, the 2020/21 lecture series at our Center for Biblical Research concluded, which included: Biblical Hebrew I, New Testament Greek I, The Book of Jonah, and Advanced Hebrew.
- Also in June, Danijel Časni, Mag. Theol., gave online lectures on Evangelization at the Evangelical Biblical Institute in Mostar for students from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro.
- In September, we launched a completely new two-year program called Advanced Knowledge of the Bible , which includes nine required and five elective courses. Upon completion, students earn 60 credits, equivalent to the first year of theological study. The program is not accredited by the Ministry of Science and Education. However, graduates can continue their studies at the Visoko evanđeosko teološko učilište u Osijeku (VETU) or abroad at institutions offering programs accredited by the ECTE (European Council for Theological Education). The first lectures in the course How the Bible Was Created? were given by Goran Medved, Mag. Theol..
- We published Postanak 1-12: Biblija u malome (Genesis 1-12: The Bible in Miniature), the second book in the series Kako se (ne) izgubiti u Bibliji (How to (Not) Get Lost in the Bible) by our lecturer, Ervin Budiselić, PhD. Its presentation was held on October 4.
- As part of the winter semester, lectures began in October: Biblical Hebrew I (lecturer Danijel Berković, PhD), New Testament Greek I (lecturer Nino Brozinčević, Mag. Hist.), organized by the Center for Biblical Research in the reading room of the Biblical Institute.
- In October, we continued the Advanced Knowledge of the Bible program with lectures on Theological Research and Writing by Dalibor Kraljik, PhD, and elective courses Hebrew 1 and Old Testament Book – Psalms by Danijel Berković, PhD.
- In collaboration with the Baptist Church Dubrava, we held film evenings throughout October titled Traveling Through the Bible with Ray Vander Laan. The film evenings were led by our lecturer Danijel Časni, Mag. Theol., with short introductory presentations by Judita Paljević Kraljik.
- On October 27, a presentation was held for Timothy Keller’s book The Prodigal God, published with the help of Eastern European Mission (EEM). The presenters were Bartosz Rybinski (EEM), Pastor Mislav Ilić, and our lecturer Danijel Časni, Mag. Theol.
- From October 28-30, our lecturer Ervin Budiselić, PhD, participated in the TGC conference in Osijek, Living a Life Worthy of the Calling, as one of the speakers on the topic Spiritual Warfare Based on the Gospel. The main speakers were Don Carson and Tim Savage.
- On November 10, our lecturer, Ervin Budiselić, PhD, was granted the right to be elected to the scientific title of Research Associate.
- On November 12 and 13, we hosted John D. Cooke, who held a two-week seminar called How to Develop Christian Character in Children and Teenagers. During his stay, he also visited Christ’s Church in Varaždin, teaching how to Create and Maintain a Strong, Loving Marriage, and at Christ’s Church Kušlanova, he spoke on the very current topic of Dying and Grieving in the Time of Coronavirus.
- In November, we continued with the film evenings Traveling Through the Bible with Ray Vander Laan at Christ’s Church Kušlanova in Zagreb, at the Baptist Church in Slavonski Brod, and at EPC Gift of Grace in Šibenik. Introductory presentations in Šibenik were given by our associate Judita Paljević Kraljik.
- The second year of the Advanced Knowledge of the Bible program continued in Christ’s Church Living Hope in Split with lectures on the topic Discipleship the Way Jesus Did It by Ervin Budiselić, PhD.
- In December, Danijel Časni, Mag. Theol., completed the Advanced Knowledge of the Bible program by giving lectures on the subject of Christian Ethics at Christ’s Church Living Hope, Split.
- On December 4, we actively participated in the meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society held in Osijek, where we received six new members.
- In December, the second issue of the 15th volume of the evangelical theological journal Kairos was released.
- In collaboration with Zagreb pastors, we started the Serving Together project, which focuses on raising the biblical literacy of believers.
